The Salvation Army
Local Residents
Purpose: Address an immediate crisis or need where a family is at risk of homelessness or other immediate safety concerns.
Funding: The Salvation Army by county served
Eligibility:
Resident of a county currently being served by WYO HELP through the fund to be used. Not all counties served by The Salvation Army will be administered by WYO HELP. Where this occurs, WYO HELP will refer to the local The Salvation Army contact.
Limits:
$200 maximum. May be used once per year no more than twice in a three-year period. Pet Deposits not covered. Maximum 1 month paid for monthly bills. (Limits may be different for The Salvation Army units not administered by WYO HELP.) Available independent of services provided by other WYO HELP programs.
Allowable Expenses:
- Minor Home Repairs
- Motel – 2 night maximum
- Pharmacy (once per year)
- Minor Medical
- Minor Dental
- Auto Repair
- Rent Payment– Requires W-9 from Landlord to be on file prior to payment.
- Rent Deposit Payment – Requires TSA deposit form to be signed prior to payment.
- Utility Payment
- Utility Deposit Payment – Requires TSA deposit form to be signed prior to payment.
- Application (May be WYO HELP or The Salvation Army)
- Photo ID – State or Federally Issued. If no ID is available, must be able to be identified in another manner. Exception requires program director approval.
- Current lease, bill, or estimate that includes customer name, address, account number (if one exists), and vendor name and address.
- If paying rent,
- Landlord information including W-9
- Tenant Payment form completed by landlord.
Reporting: All customers will be entered into agency management software. All activities regarding customer will be documented and reported to agency board as required.
Desired Outcomes: Customers will address the immediate crisis and can maintain basic capacity.
Special Note: Rent and Utility assistance will be referred if there is an alternative resource with higher limits or greater capacity than our own resources.
Non-Residents
Purpose: Provide life saving measures where no other options exist, and safety of community and agency partners are not at risk.
Special Notice: Program is only available through local law enforcement. Assistance must be obtained through local dispatch or law enforcement officers where offered.
