Volunteer Opportunities
WYO HELP’s Shopper’s Choice Pantry thrives because of generous volunteers who give their time, energy, and heart to help neighbors facing food insecurity.
Whether you have a few hours each month or can make a weekly commitment, there’s a place for you on our team. Many roles also fulfill school or community service hours.
Current Volunteer Roles
□ Client Shopping Assistant
Welcome and guide clients as they select groceries, explain pantry procedures, and ensure a respectful experience.
✅ Great for friendly, helpful communicators.
⏱ 2–4 hours per shift
□ Grocery Bagger & Carry-Out Assistant
Bag groceries during distribution and help carry items to vehicles when needed.
✅ Ideal for those who like hands-on tasks.
⏱ 2–4 hours per shift
✅ Client Check-In Assistant
Greet clients and verify household information to keep things organized and moving smoothly.
✅ Great for detail-oriented helpers who enjoy friendly conversation.
⏱ 2–3 hours per shift
□ Grocery Rescue Assistant
Pick up food donations from local stores and deliver them to the pantry.
✅ Must be able to lift and have reliable transportation.
⏱ 1–2 hours per run
□ Delivery Unloading & Storage Assistant
Help unload food deliveries and stock pantry shelves following food safety standards.
✅ Best for active volunteers who like behind-the-scenes work.
⏱ 1–3 hours on delivery days
□ Special Event Assistant
Support food distributions, holiday giveaways, and outreach days. Set up, serve, and clean up.
✅ Perfect for those who enjoy energetic, one-time events.
⏱ 2–5 hours per event
□ Community Engagement Coordinator
Connect with churches, schools, and civic groups; share news, write posts, and promote our mission.
✅ Great for writers, speakers, and social media savvy volunteers.
⏱ 3–5 hours/week (flexible)
□ Event Planner
Coordinate special community food distributions and educational outreach events.
✅ Ideal for organized, creative individuals who enjoy planning.
⏱ 5–10 hours/month (flexible)
□ Fundraising Volunteer
Plan campaigns, write donor letters, and help raise critical funds to keep our pantry stocked.
✅ A great fit for outgoing individuals or aspiring nonprofit leaders.
⏱ 3–5 hours/week
□ Youth Volunteer (Ages 12–18)
Support pantry operations while earning school service hours. Tasks include sorting, bagging, cleaning, and helping at events.
✅ Must have parental consent if under 18.
