Appeals (Grievance) Process

WYO HELP is committed to fair, respectful service.

Non-Discrimination

It is our policy that no person shall be excluded from participation, be denied benefits, or be subjected to discrimination in any activity or service.

Non-Retaliation

It is our policy to not discriminate or retaliate against anyone who files a grievance or cooperates in the investigation of a grievance.

Step 1 — Submit a written grievance

A grievance must be in writing and must include:

  • Your name and address
  • A clear description of the problem
  • The remedy sought (what you want done to resolve the issue)

Step 2 — Send it to the right place (within 30 days)

  • If your grievance involves a staff member (under the supervision of a Program Director or the Executive Director), you must submit it to the Executive Director within 30 days of when you became aware of the alleged action or dissatisfaction.
  • If your grievance involves the Executive Director, you must submit it to the Board of Directors.

Step 3 — Investigation and written decision

Either the Executive Director or the Board of Directors will conduct an investigation. Files and records will be maintained. A written decision will be issued no later than 30 days after the grievance is filed.

Step 4 — Appeals after a decision

  • If the grievance is investigated by the Executive Director, the decision may be appealed to the Board of Directors.
  • If the grievance is investigated by the Board of Directors and the grievance involves CSBG grant funds, an appeal may be made in writing to the Wyoming Community Services Program within 30 days of the Board decision.
No request for a hearing from CSP may be made until the grievance has been heard by the Board of Directors.
