Youth Volunteer – Food Pantry Support (Ages 12–18)
Position Summary
Youth Volunteers assist with a variety of supportive tasks at the food pantry, helping ensure operations run smoothly while gaining valuable experience and fulfilling school volunteer hour requirements. Youth volunteers work under adult supervision and contribute to a meaningful community cause in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bag groceries for clients during food distributions.
Restock pantry shelves and organize food items.
Sort and label donations according to pantry guidelines.
Help carry groceries to client vehicles with assistance, if needed.
Assist with event setup and cleanup during pantry outreach events.
Create posters or simple outreach materials to support pantry awareness.
Perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks such as sweeping or taking out trash.
Qualifications
Age 12–18 with parental/guardian consent if under 18.
Positive attitude and willingness to help.
Ability to follow directions and work with adult supervision.
Respectful and inclusive toward pantry clients and fellow volunteers.
Able to lift up to 15 lbs and be on feet for 1–2 hours.
Time Commitment
Shifts typically last 2–4 hours during scheduled pantry days or events.
Flexible scheduling available to accommodate school requirements.
School Volunteer Credit
Youth volunteers may receive credit toward school volunteer hour requirements. A verification letter or service log can be provided upon request after participation.
Training Provided
Youth volunteers receive on-site orientation and are paired with an adult volunteer or staff member for guidance.
