Position Summary
  • The Client Shopping Assistant helps guide clients through the pantry, explains how the program works, and ensures a positive and respectful shopping experience. This role is essential in making clients feel welcome, respected, and confident while selecting their groceries.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet clients warmly and explain how the pantry shopping process works.
  • Guide clients through the pantry and assist them in selecting eligible food items.
  • Answer basic questions about pantry rules and available food items.
  • Ensure clients understand quantity limits or special categories if applicable.
  • Promote a respectful and supportive environment for all clients.
  • Notify pantry staff of any issues or concerns during client interaction.
  • Restock items or assist in organizing shelves between client visits as needed.
Qualifications
  • Friendly, patient, and respectful demeanor.
  • Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to explain guidelines clearly and respectfully.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to stand and walk for the duration of a 2–4 hour shift.
Time Commitment
  • Shifts typically last 4–5 hours during scheduled pantry distribution days. 10:30am to 4:30pm on Fridays.
  • Volunteers can serve regularly or as available.
Training Provided
On-site orientation and role-specific training provided.
