Position Summary
- The Client Shopping Assistant helps guide clients through the pantry, explains how the program works, and ensures a positive and respectful shopping experience. This role is essential in making clients feel welcome, respected, and confident while selecting their groceries.
- Greet clients warmly and explain how the pantry shopping process works.
- Guide clients through the pantry and assist them in selecting eligible food items.
- Answer basic questions about pantry rules and available food items.
- Ensure clients understand quantity limits or special categories if applicable.
- Promote a respectful and supportive environment for all clients.
- Notify pantry staff of any issues or concerns during client interaction.
- Restock items or assist in organizing shelves between client visits as needed.
- Friendly, patient, and respectful demeanor.
- Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to explain guidelines clearly and respectfully.
- Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to stand and walk for the duration of a 2–4 hour shift.
- Shifts typically last 4–5 hours during scheduled pantry distribution days. 10:30am to 4:30pm on Fridays.
- Volunteers can serve regularly or as available.
