Community Development Volunteer
Location: Remote with Local Engagement in Niobrara County Wyoming
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Summary: The Community Development Volunteer plays a key role in expanding the reach and impact of our Community Action Agency by serving as a bridge between our remote staff and local organizations, community groups, and residents. This volunteer helps build and strengthen relationships that support poverty-reduction efforts, program awareness, and collaborative community initiatives.

Position Summary: The Community Development Volunteer plays a key role in expanding the reach and impact of our Community Action Agency by serving as a bridge between our remote staff and local organizations, community groups, and residents. This volunteer helps build and strengthen relationships that support poverty-reduction efforts, program awareness, and collaborative community initiatives.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Represent WYO HELP in local community settings such as meetings, events, and informal gatherings.
- Identify and connect with local nonprofits, churches, schools, and civic groups to share information about agency programs and services.
- Gather feedback from community members and partners to help shape future initiatives.
- Distribute outreach materials and assist with local awareness campaigns.
- Support coordination of local volunteer efforts, food drives, or service events as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with agency staff to report on local opportunities, challenges, and successes.
- Respect client confidentiality and represent the agency with professionalism and compassion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for community service and poverty-reduction efforts
- Ability to work independently while staying connected with remote staff
- Familiarity with the local area and its organizations (preferred)
- Basic computer/email access for reporting and updates
- Flexible hours, ideally 5–10 hours per month depending on local needs and events
- Opportunity to make a direct impact in your community
- Gain experience in community development, outreach, and nonprofit collaboration
- Receive training and support from agency staff
- Letters of recommendation available upon request
