Position Summary
- The Volunteer Fundraiser develops and carries out creative fundraising activities to support the food pantry’s operational and program needs. This role works with staff and other volunteers to plan campaigns, cultivate donors, and ensure funds are raised in a timely, ethical, and community-oriented manner.
- Campaign Planning & Execution
- Design and coordinate small- and large-scale fundraising campaigns (online appeals, community drives, special events).
- Create timelines, budgets, and promotional materials for each initiative.
- Donor Outreach & Stewardship
- Identify prospective donors (individuals, businesses, faith communities, civic groups).
- Draft compelling appeals, thank-you letters, and impact updates.
- Maintain accurate donor contact records and ensure timely acknowledgements.
- Community & Corporate Partnerships
- Seek sponsorships or matching-gift opportunities from local companies.
- Represent the pantry at community meetings, fairs, and networking events to raise visibility.
- Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate with pantry staff to create social-media posts, newsletters, and press releases highlighting fundraising goals and results.
- Help gather impact stories and photos that demonstrate the pantry’s value to the community.
- Plan logistics for fundraising events—venue, volunteers, supplies, permits, and follow-up.
- Ensure events reflect the pantry’s mission and inclusivity.
- Track income and expenses for each campaign; provide regular progress reports.
- Follow pantry guidelines and ethical fundraising standards (e.g., confidentiality, donor intent).
- Passion for ending food insecurity and supporting community-based solutions.
- Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and digital.
- Creative thinker with basic project-management abilities.
- Comfortable reaching out to individuals, businesses, and community groups.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Prior fundraising, sales, event-planning, or marketing experience is a plus (but not required).
- Familiarity with social-media platforms and simple design tools (Canva, etc.) helpful.
