Position Summary
- The Delivery Unloading & Storage Assistant helps receive and organize food deliveries for the pantry. This volunteer role is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment by ensuring food items are properly unloaded, sorted, and stored according to pantry procedures.
- Unload food items from delivery trucks and pantry vehicles.
- Lift and move boxes and food supplies safely to designated storage areas.
- Sort and organize food by type, date, and storage requirements.
- Assist with maintaining proper inventory rotation (First In, First Out).
- Break down cardboard and dispose of packing materials appropriately.
- Keep storage areas clean, accessible, and well-organized.
- Report any damaged or unsafe items to pantry staff.
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and move items repeatedly.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and work as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and willingness to maintain pantry organization.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Respectful and professional demeanor.
- Shifts typically align with scheduled delivery days and last 1–3 hours.
