Position Summary
- The Community Engagement Coordinator helps raise awareness about the food pantry's mission, services, and needs by communicating with community groups, creating public-facing content, and promoting the pantry through various media. This role is key in building support, encouraging donations, and increasing volunteer engagement.
- Act as a liaison between the pantry and local churches, civic groups, businesses, and schools.
- Deliver brief presentations or updates about the pantry to community organizations.
- Write and submit news articles, press releases, or updates for local media outlets.
- Create engaging social media posts and graphics that promote pantry needs, events, and impact stories.
- Work with pantry staff to gather stories, data, and visuals for community updates.
- Encourage community involvement through donation drives, volunteer opportunities, or event promotion.
- Track and report on engagement activities and public response.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to write clearly and effectively for various audiences.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Creative thinker with an eye for storytelling and visual content.
- Comfortable reaching out to and engaging with community organizations.
- Self-motivated and dependable.
- Passionate about addressing food insecurity and building community support.
