Food Pantry Volunteer – Client Check-In Assistant
Position Summary
Shifts typically last 4-5 hours during scheduled pantry distribution days. Fridays from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
Regular or occasional volunteers are welcome.
Training Provided
Orientation and training on intake procedures and confidentiality policies provided.

Position Summary
- The Client Check-In Assistant is responsible for welcoming clients, checking them in according to pantry guidelines, and verifying basic information to ensure accurate service records. This role is essential to maintaining smooth pantry operations and ensuring that services are provided fairly and efficiently.
- Greet clients and make them feel welcome.
- Check clients in using the pantry’s intake system or paper forms.
- Verify client information such as name, household size, or address if required.
- Explain any necessary updates or policies clearly and respectfully.
- Ensure client confidentiality and treat all clients with dignity.
- Alert pantry staff of any issues or irregularities during check-in.
- Help manage waiting area flow and direct clients as needed.
- Assist Client Shopping Assistant and Grocery Bagger as needed.
- Qualifications
- Friendly, welcoming attitude and professional demeanor.
- Attention to detail when recording or reviewing client information.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow data protection guidelines.
- Comfortable using basic forms or computer systems (training provided).
- Able to communicate clearly and patiently with a variety of people.
