Food Pantry Volunteer – Grocery Bagger & Carry-Out Assistant
Position Summary
  • The Grocery Bagger & Carry-Out Assistant helps ensure clients have a smooth and respectful experience during food distribution days. This role includes bagging groceries based on client selections and assisting with carrying groceries to client vehicles as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Bag groceries quickly and neatly according to client selections and pantry guidelines.
  • Handle food items with care and maintain food safety practices.
  • Assist clients by carrying groceries to their vehicles when requested.
  • Offer friendly, respectful interaction with all clients and team members.
  • Return carts, baskets, or supplies to designated areas after use.
  • Notify pantry staff of any issues or concerns during distribution.
  • Ensure each bag of groceries is weighed and documented according to program.
Qualifications
  • Friendly and respectful demeanor.
  • Ability to lift and carry bags or boxes of groceries (up to 25 lbs).
  • Able to work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and treating all clients with dignity.
Time Commitment
Shifts typically last 4–5 hours during scheduled pantry distribution days. 10:30am to 4pm on Fridays.
Flexible scheduling available.
Training Provided
On-site orientation and safety overview prior to volunteering.
